Logging on Blanchard

Below is information from the DNR.  In short, there is logging activity on Blanchard right now.  Below is the schedule and map: acorn timber sale map.

Hi Folks

Sorry this is at the last minute but have had issues with division regarding press release getting done. It should have been out last week. Here is what I have for the next couple weeks regarding the timber harvest on Blanchard Mountain.

12/4/13 – Purchaser has completed clearing of the rock pit and is preparing to blast.  Week starting 12/9/13, the purchaser will blast the pit about 12/10/13.  The rock pit is generally located outside of recreation use areas and should not pose a threat to recreationists, though you may hear the blasting.  The purchaser will take precautions to ensure the blast area is clear and safe before proceeding with blasting activities.  Blasting will be followed by processing the rock to specification.  Once the rock is processed, it will be hauled to the road construction site(s) which will be on the road to the Samish overlook

About 12/5/13, the purchaser will begin felling timber within roadway corridor, initiating equipment mobilization, and begin road construction in Unit 2. See map for details.

You can expect increased heavy truck traffic on the forest roads during these activities.  You may also experience temporary trail closures.  Please help us ensure safety and comply with all control signs you may encounter and drive cautiously.

Please pass the word out to your Groups. Updated emails will come out and this information will be posted at the trailheads.”
