Blanchard Mountain Trailday – This Saturday!

Blanchard Mountain Trailday – This Saturday!

Join us on Saturday morning to help complete a reroute of the Lily-Lizard Lake connector.   This new section will change a former fall line trail between the lakes into a nicely graded bench cut that is rideable from either direction.

We’ll be meeting at the Upper Trailhead at 9:45 AM and then plan to drive up near the work site around 10. From our parking location, we’ll bushwhack in and then hike the upper section Alternate Incline to connect in with the Lily/Lizard trail. Our work zone will be just uphill from Lizard Lake. Based on the progress we already have made, we expect this to take 3-4 hours to complete the last section, so we’ll be driving off the mountain around 2 PM.

We’ll provide coffee and pastries in the morning, but bring some water and snacks. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring work gloves. We’ll, of course, provide tools, but if you have one you want to bring, please do so.

From Bellingham, head south on I5 and take exit 240 (Alger exit). Go right (west) on Lake Samish Road for approx.. ½ mile and take a left on Barrell Springs road. Follow Barrel Springs Road a mile or two and then take a right on Lily Lake Road (there is a sign for Blanchard Mountain). Drive up the dirt road and go past the lower trailhead with the bathrooms. Continue to the upper trailhead (be sure to go past the left turn that goes towards the Samish Overlook/Hanglider takeoff) and we’ll meet there.
